It was back in 1912 when Longines began a close partnership with gymnastics as the official timekeeper for the 1912 Swiss Federal Gymnastics meet in Basel. It was due to this strong partnership with gymnastics that Longines intruduced the "broken wire" automatic timing system, the introduction of automatic timing. Longines has continued to remain a close partner with many gymnastics federations across the globe.[2]
